Abstract

Nutritional problems among mothers and children remain a public health challenge, which can affect child growth and development as well as maternal health. Lack of knowledge about balanced diets is one of the main contributing factors. Posyandu cadres play a strategic role as the frontline of community health services; therefore, they need to be empowered to enhance their capacity in delivering nutrition education. This community service activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of Posyandu cadres in promoting balanced diets for pregnant women, breastfeeding
mothers, and children under five. The methods used include  health education sessions, training, demonstrations on preparing balanced menus based on local food resources, and mentoring cadres in conducting educational practices within the community. The activity was carried out through several stages, namely needs assessment, cadre training, implementation of education, and evaluation. The results of the activity showed an increase in the knowledge and skills of Posyandu cadres in planning and delivering information about balanced diets. In addition,
mothers and target families demonstrated improved understanding of the importance of adequate balanced nutrition for maternal health and child growth and development. In conclusion, empowering Posyandu cadres is effective in enhancing their capacity and supporting behavioral changes in the community regarding the implementation of balanced diets. It is expected that this activity can be sustained and serve as a model for improving the nutritional status of mothers and children in the
community
